We are excited to offer a neurodiversity-affirming group to children ages 5-9. With the facilitation by an experienced speech-language pathologist, participants will work through a strength-based curriculum developed by neurodivergent adults and backed by research that addresses topics such as authentic social connection, embodied emotions, supportive friends and allies, and self-advocacy. While many social programs attempt to teach neurodivergent children how to appear more typical, this program aims to improve children’s understanding of themselves, learn how their brains and bodies work, and feel comfortable showing up authentically to form genuine connections. Most weeks includes an activity to take home and information for the parent(s) and caregiver(s) as well.

Besides working through the curriculum, participants will enjoy sensory activities, games/crafts, and a snack so that learning is balanced with moving and interacting with others in the group. Participants must have conversational speech (with or without a device) and be able to sit and attend for periods of time. All efforts are made to make this a sensory friendly and inclusive environment for all participants.
